Hi Sujata , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

One key turning point in my career as an artist was me understanding that I could be a professional artist . I had gone to Munich for work and they had room paintings of Peter Paul Ruben who lived in Munich in the museum there . And they had one room dedicated to just one painting, the notes , sketches , previous versions ,mistakes correction everything for visitors to see along with the final result . This was the first time I realised artists also need to work hard and make mistakes since I worked hard on my paintings and had rework them all the time . This told me there was nothing wrong with me and a I could be an artist and learn from my mistakes too.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

It is my goal and mission to spread the healing powers of art via my art and art workshops,

Art :- Once I paint my emotions and stories are no longer just mine, they are also of the viewers. When I just speak about these controversial topics, I can be seen as being quarelsome or complaining. However once in the form of a painting they become a societal/collective issues on which dialogues can be started. I often see that they become a vehicle for others to express similar emotions they have experienced in the past, and I have seen them get quite emotional and even cry, as being heard and seen like never before.

Art workshop:- There is something about seeing your emotions take a life of their own outside your body, that triggers a release like no other. And of course painting can help express emotions that words cannot. This effect is very well researched and documented in art therapy, Hence in my art workshops, I begin with a meditation or guided imagery which transports the attendee into a emotional space that they have never been and then I give them visual tools to express these visually.

One of my most popular workshops in these series is ‘mandala reinvented” series suitable for any beginner. Since using symmetry and repetition any visual symbols end up looking amazing and even beginners come out of this workshop proud of what they produced
