Bloody Immigrant

Bloody Immigrant

I made this watercolor is dedicated to Deb Haaland, the first Native American to serve as a Cabinet secretary and the second to serve in the Cabinet as the 54th United States secretary of the interior from 2021 to 2025. She is the only one qualified to call anyone immigrant in the United States, including the current president, whose anti-immigrant rhetoric is well known. Here she has her knees on Trump’s neck as a surrealist painting as a reenactment of Police brutality on George Floyd with the US Capitol in the background. On January 6, 2021, Trump supporters attacked the Capitol, disrupting the joint session of Congress assembled to count electoral votes to formalize Biden's victory in the 2020 United States presidential election. The 1500 people tried for this offense have been given presidential pardon but the attack remains a black mark on the US history.
