A fun fact about the Machilipatnam Kalamkari (Pedana Kalamkari ) depicted here, was patronized by Mughals and the Golconda Sultanate. Because of this non-Hindu affiliation, these artists didn’t use religious motifs of Hinduism, and instead used motifs like interlacing pattern of leaves, flowers, lotus flower, creepers, birds like parrots and peacock, and other intricate leaf designs.
