As I was searching for a sport where women are leading, I came up on ultra running. This is an equalizing sport requiring long distance stamina versus short bursts of energy which women are better at. By nature, we are more patient and consistent, by social conditioning. (read more).
Pam Reed is an ultra-running legend and the first person to complete a 300-mile run without sleep in 2005 , breaking Dean Karnazes’s then-record of 262 miles. She completed the run in slightly less than eighty hours.
She is a 53 now and is still active in ultra running as a runner and is also the race director for the Tucson Marathon. She runs a household with 5 children and exemplifies what a human body can achieve irrespective of gender and age.
