The Uncertainty Principle
As per Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle you cannot simultaneously know both the precise position and the exact momentum (speed and direction) of a subatomic particle. The more precisely one property is measured, the less precisely the other can be known.
And this is because electrons like other subatomic particles behave like waves until someone tries to observe (measure) them, which causes their waves to collpase into particles.
This is my attempt at imaging what it would be like if we could be like waves at human scale. How freeing would that be !
